Preparation
- Make sure concrete wall
is clean.
- If you are planning on installing
a sub-floor, now is the perfect time to do it.
*** NOTE : OvrX Insulated Sub-Flooring Tiles are a perfect
solution
to use with the Insulated Wall Panels. ***
Installation
- Install IWP (Insulated Wall
Panels) starting in a corner beveling (see
beveling) the board with a 45 angle on the top part of the
drop lap (this allows for NO wood to be exposed to the concrete). Make
certain the panel is plumb at right angles (at 90°). Also leave
a 1 1/4" gap at bottom for installation of subfloor. (See Inside
Corner tips)
- Install 2 cement fasteners
to the board along the beveled side 2" from the edge of the OSB.
(one 16" from top and one 16" from bottom).
- Get second panel. Match
up drop lap. Push into place. (Don't forget to leave your 1 1/4"
gap at bottom for installation of subfloor).
- Install 2 cement fasteners
to the board along the matched up side 2" from the edge of the
OSB. (one 16" from top and one 16" from bottom).
- Continue on with installation.
** For ceilings
greater then 8', lay the panels horizontally to achieve the
height following the 2 cement fastener rule then one and so on. **
Inside corner
tips
Bevel one groove
and one tongue edge to a 45° angle so that you get nice, clean and
protected corner (with no wood exposed to the concrete).
Outside
Corner Tips
Bevel one groove
and one tongue edge to a 45° angle so that you get nice, clean and
protected corner (with no wood exposed to the concrete).
Electrical Installation
Cut a block of wood the same size as the electrical outlet box; the thickness
of
the block should ensure that the edge of the electrical outlet box will
be flush with the drywall. Fasten the wood block onto the concrete substrate
with concrete fasteners.
Place panel over the wood block and tap it with your hand. By doing this,
an imprint of the block is formed on the back side of the board. Turn
over the board, cut out the imprint. Now drill some guide holes through
the OSB. One in the centre and one on each end. Turn panel over and, using
your square, draw your outline. Cut out hole. Flip panel back over and
cut out 1/2" deep channel on the front of the board with a utility
knife to accommodate the electrical wiring.
CAUTION: SOME PROVINCES DO NOT ALLOW YOU TO DO YOUR OWN ELECTRICAL WORK.
IN OTHERS, YOU NEED A PERMIT. CHECK YOUR BUILDING CODE FOR RULES &
REGULATIONS. OvrX RECOMMENDS THAT ELECTRICAL WORK BE DONE BY QUALIFIED
INDIVIDUALS ONLY.
Plumbing Installation
To put the IWP's around plumbing fixtures which protrude from the wall,
make certain that you measure properly and then cut out from the closest
edge. Cut the piece that is left over to fill hole. Use cement fasteners
as needed. Areas behind the plumbing which are to small for IWP, can be
filled with a polystyrene compatible spray foam insulation.
Beveling boards
This is done to provide corners with no wood exposed to the cement. How
you do this is you take your circular saw and you adjust the guide. This
can also be done with a jigsaw.
