Why would you need a subfloor like OvrX Flooring?
Basement floors are cold and damp. The cement retains the cold and when the warm, moist air from your home meets the cold cement, a damp, 'sweaty' condition is created. The typical solution for a basement floor is to strap and lay in Styrofoam or underpad and carpet. OvrX insulated flooring tiles are a logical solution for this condition. Testing has shown OvrX products were as much as 300 % better than other products at insulating your home from the cold cement

Can I install the tiles right away or do I have to wait?
OvrX recommends that you allow the Sub-flooring tiles to adjust to the relative humidity of the room in which they will be used prior to installation. Allow tiles to stand for at least 24 hours by stacking or laying them out on the floor with the insulation (blue side) down.

What should I do at the bottom of the stairs?
If the riser height is a problem, then you will need to make a landing at the bottom of the stairs and put in transition strips to get up to the proper height.

How much headroom will I lose with OvrX Flooring?
Not much! A OvrX insulated flooring tile is only 1 1/8" in total thickness.

How does OvrX Flooring work?
OvrX tiles are OSB (oriented strand board) construction and are approximately 2 feet square. They have 2 sides with tongue and 2 sides with grooves. There is no nails or glue needed to install an OvrX floor.

Can I nail into OvrX tiles?
Absolutely! OvrX tiles can receive nails or screws without compromising the benefits. Tile the entire basement with OvrX and then erect the stud walls right on top!

What finishing solutions can I use with the Barricade Sub-floor?
You can use carpet, laminate, vinyl or engineered hardwood. Simply prepare your new sub-floor as you would any other. For example, lay down a 1/4" underlay for vinyl flooring.

What is the proper way to install vinyl sheets or tiles?
A 1/4" plywood underlayment approved for use with sheet vinyl or adhesive-backed vinyl tiles should be installed with nails, staples or screws to the OvrX panels. Do not glue the plywood underlayment to OvrX panels. Do not glue adhesive-backed vinyl tiles directly to OvrX panels. Install the vinyl floor to the plywood underlayment according to the vinyl manufacturer's installation instructions. Leave 1/2" wall spacers in place until after the vinyl floor has been installed. Remove 1/2” wall spacers.

Can I install it myself?
Of course, see our easy 3-Step installation guide. The Barricade system has been specifically-developed for easy installation, with wall and subfloor panels installed in an average-sized basement in one day by the homeowner, using standard household tools.
